TONIGHT! FUture Development Wildstyle Bash

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT EXHIBIT

WILDSTYLE BASH

HOSTED BY VA$HTIE

FRIDAY, MAY 7TH 2010
7PM – 10PM

LOFT 676Combining painters, sculptors and spray can wizards, the upcoming "Future Development" exhibit at Loft 676 in New York City aims to celebrate the history of graffiti while highlighting the art form as more than just urban blight.

BigfootThe notion that graffiti is merely about vandalism is as misguided as the idea that rap music only revolves around flashy clothes and women. Graffiti is a cultural movement, with far-reaching influences across film, music and commerce. "For some, the street art movement has been seen as [negatively impacting] communities, but when multinational companies take interest, public views change," says curator, Cliff Campbell. His hope is that graf enthusiasts and novices alike will enjoy the innovative work on display at the exhibit.

"Future Development" runs May 7-13, and visitors to the Manhattan-based Loft 676 gallery can peer into the world of this dynamic visual medium. From 1970's artists like
Quik to the more contemporary Bigfoot (left), each decade of the art form is represented by a group of diverse craftsmen. Many have parlayed their years of experience into designing fashion collections, corporate advertising and a number of other mainstream endeavors. Still, it's the affinity for aerosol art that is their common thread. If Campbell's efforts pay off, an even greater number of people will share in that appreciation.

"FUTURE DEVELOPMENT" features artwork by:
Quik, Haculla, Ces, Cram, Ket, Cinik, Klass1,
T.Dee, TATS Cru, Bigfoot, Porn, Pawn, Earsnot, Ree & TF Dutchman.
